Free-to-air Television via a Satellite Dish

Freesat has become a very good alternative to Freeview, especially if you happen to live in one of the poor aerial reception areas around, and local to, Hastings.

The satellite dish required is the same as the type used by Sky.

Most of the major TV brands offer models which have Freesat built in, although these tend to be more expensive than Freeview only models. Alternatively, set top boxes are available which can enable recording and live TV to be paused.

Freesat advantages

• Perfect reception of all channels no matter where you live, if you have line of site.
• Unaffected by interference issues that can blight Freeview in some areas.

Freesat disadvantages

• Most TV's do not have Freesat built in. TV's that have tend to be pricier so a set top box may be necessary.
• Line of sight is required, so large buildings or tree cover can be problematic.
